Every career at a glance

Each career has its own workplace, workdays and skill. "A week" below is the wage times the number of workdays, without the bonus. Open Phone → Jobs in the game to apply: you are hired on the spot.

The hours are each career's usual hours, not a rule: the Jobs app says "Clock in anytime", and on a workday you can start your shift whenever you like. The game team can adjust wages; the Jobs app always shows the live figure.

Which career should you pick?

The ladders are close, so pick for your week and your skills as much as for the money. Here is the honest version.

Every career, level by level

"With bonus" is a full shift with all 4 tasks handled well. "Needs" is the career skill level the title asks for before you can be promoted into it.

Ajebota players start their first job at Level 2. Changing career starts you at the entry level of the new one, even if you worked there before.

How a shift works

Shifts start from home. When you have a job, a Start shift button sits at the bottom right. If it is greyed out, it tells you why: today's shift is done, it is a rest day, you are out of the house, your energy is low, or you are seriously ill.

1. Minute 0. Press Start shift. You go straight to work; the trip is free. Anything you were doing at home stops.
2. Minutes 2, 7, 12, 17. A task pops up at about each of these minutes (give or take 30 seconds). You have 60 seconds to pick one of two answers.
3. The whole hour. Performance grows every minute according to your work mode, which you can switch whenever you like with the chips under "How you work".
4. Minute 60. You are paid and sent home. The Shift over card shows your pay, the performance you gained, tasks handled and your skill XP.

• One shift a day. Once per Lagos day, and only on your career's workdays.
• Energy. You need at least 10 energy to start. Below that the game asks you to sleep first.
• Low needs. If any need is under 20 when the shift ends, that shift's performance and skill XP are cut by 20%. Eat, wash and use the toilet before you go.
• Being sick. Working while mildly unwell also costs 20% of performance and XP. A serious illness stops you working (and doing gigs) until you are treated. See needs and health.
• Leaving early. The Knock off early · part pay button ends the shift now. You get 10% of the wage plus the share of the hour you worked, keep the performance you earned, and lose the all-tasks bonus.
• Closing the game. The shift still finishes on time and pays you once.

The four tasks

Every shift draws 4 tasks: two from your own career's list and two from a shared list (156 tasks in all, 15 of them shared). Each has two answers, tagged Low risk or Risky. A task you do not answer in time is missed.

• Low risk answers always work. The good one earns a ⭐ and +2 to +3 performance; the weak one earns 0 to +2 and no star. Usually it is clear which is which: the answer that keeps your mind on the job.
• Risky answers are rolled. A win earns a ⭐ and +6 to +10 performance; a loss earns −2 to 0 and no star.
• Each ⭐ adds 5 skill XP, and four ⭐ in one shift add the 15% pay bonus.

The chance of a risky answer working depends on your job's skill level and on how hard the answer is. The card does not show the difficulty, so read across the row for your level:

Work modes

The mode decides how fast performance grows and what the hour does to your needs. The shift starts in Steady Pace; switch whenever you like and each minute counts at the mode you were in. "A full hour" is the performance from the mode alone, before tasks.

• 🔥 Full Throttle when you want a promotion. It is the fastest mode by far (+60 an hour), but to end the hour with no need under 20 you should start with at least: Hunger 55, Energy 80, Fun 80, Hygiene 40, Bladder 28.
• 🙇🏾 Impress the Boss when your energy or fun is a bit short for Full Throttle. Its boss bonus is added every minute, giving +42 an hour.
• 🧑🏾‍💼 Steady Pace on an ordinary day: +36 an hour at a moderate cost.
• 💬 Banter with the Team when fun and social are low: it is the only mode that raises them.
• 😴 Cruise Mode when you are exhausted: energy goes up while you work, but the job hardly moves (+6 an hour).

Promotion

Performance starts at 50% in a new job and is kept between shifts. When it reaches 100% at the end of a shift, and your career skill is at the level the next title needs, you move up a level and performance goes back to 50%. If the skill is short, performance waits at 100% and the result card says exactly what is missing; you are promoted at the end of the first shift after you reach that skill level.

So each promotion needs 50 points of performance. From mode alone that is 2 shifts of Steady Pace, 1 shift of Full Throttle, 3 shifts of Banter with the Team, 2 shifts of Impress the Boss, 9 shifts of Cruise Mode. Good tasks shorten that.

The nine skills

Skills go from 0 to 10 and belong to you, not your job. Every shift gives your career skill 40 XP plus 5 per ⭐ (up to 60). Everything else comes from things you do at home with the right furniture, or in town. A go takes seconds and home training has no daily limit, though some of it costs energy.

The XP shown is the base; your background, traits and perks multiply it. Furniture with more stars makes its actions fill your needs more, but the skill XP is the same. Browse every piece in homes and furniture.

Skill levels and XP

The XP to reach each level is a running total. The last column is how many full shifts with four ⭐ would get you there from shifts alone, which shows why home training matters.

Gigs between shifts

Gigs are paid jobs at the venues. Each one takes a few seconds, pays when it finishes, then rests for its cooldown before you can do the same gig again. You can finish up to 10 gigs a day across town, they need the same 10 energy as a shift, and you cannot do them while on shift. Gig pay is not taxed.

The best gig, 📦 Mudu Pepper Trade at Agege Market, leaves you ₦5,600 each time. Doing it all 10 times in a day would leave ₦56,000, but its 20-minute cooldown spreads that over at least 3 hours and the energy adds up, so mix in other gigs and plan a sleep. Gigs also train skills: a market day of trades is good Hustle practice for a trader.

Common mistakes

• Leaving as soon as the last task is done, and giving up most of the pay and the bonus.
• Starting Full Throttle hungry or tired, so a need drops under 20 and the shift is cut by 20%.
• Gambling on risky answers at skill 0–2 and missing the all-tasks bonus.
• Sitting at 100% for weeks without training the skill the next title needs.
• Switching careers on a whim: you start the new job from the bottom.
