How the gem hunt works
- A gem drops. On the hour, every 4 hours, Lagos time. It stays in the same place for 4 hours, until the next one replaces it.
- Read the riddle. The Find the gem card sits on the left of the screen, under your goal card. Tap it to open the hunt: the riddle, a countdown to the next gem, the prize list and who found it first.
- Travel there. Tap Show the map (or Map in the bottom bar) and pick the place you think the riddle means.
- Spot it. Once you arrive at the right place, the card changes to Close by! Tap to spot it ✨. The gem floats near one corner of a spot in the room, turning, with a soft halo and a faint beam of light down to the floor. Tap the card and the camera pans to it.
- Tap the gem. It lifts away and the prize lands in your spendable money at once, with a message saying which finder you were.

If you're in the wrong place, the hunt says it is still hidden. Nothing is lost by guessing wrong except the fare and a little time.
The drop times

| 6 | 8 PM | 12 AM | 11 |
Lagos time is West Africa Time (UTC+1), all year round.
Prizes
Prizes go by the order players find the gem. Each player can claim each gem once, so a second tap gets you nothing new. The cash is paid in full: income tax only comes off wages and business payouts.
| Finishing place | Prize each | Players |
|---|---|---|
| 1st | ₦40,000 | 1 |
| 2nd–3rd | ₦20,000 | 2 |
| 4th–10th | ₦8,000 | 7 |
| 11th and later | ₦2,500 | Everyone |
- First place is worth about 4.6 shifts of the lowest first-rung job (Skit Maker, ₦8,700 a shift).
- The top 10 finders of one gem share ₦136,000 between them.
- Win first place on all 6 gems in a day and you'd take ₦240,000. Even as a late finder, all 6 pay ₦15,000.
- If 💎 Hunt down a gem is one of your wishes, a claim also pays 4 ✨. See wishes and perks.
The hunt shows which prize is up for grabs next, how many gems have been claimed today and the @usernames of the earliest finders.
How to read a riddle
Every riddle is a rhyming couplet that describes a place: what you see there, what people do, what it smells or sounds like. It points to the place, not to a corner of it. Once you're in the right place, the game shows you the gem.

Here is a made-up one, for a place that isn't in the game:
- Pick out the things. Needles, measuring tapes, fabric.
- Pick out the action. Bringing cloth and leaving after a fitting.
- Ask who does that. A tailor. So the answer would be a tailor's shop.
A few habits that help:
- Think about what happens inside each place: the food, the music, the work, the crowd.
- Local words are a big clue. Learn the names of the dishes, the trades and the street life.
- A riddle can name the area, the road or the bus stop nearby. The table below gives each place's area.
- There are 46 riddles in the game, at least 2 for each place. Seen a riddle before? It points to the same place again.
- Visit every place once early on. The places guide describes them all.

Getting there fast
The railway splits the map into an Agege side and an Ikeja side. A trip on your own side is short and cheap; crossing takes a bit longer and costs a bit more.
| Ride | Same side | Across | Fare (same / across) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 🚶🏾 Walk | 12 s | 20 s | Free |
| 🛺 Keke | 3 s | 4 s | ₦100 / ₦200 |
| 🚐 Danfo | 3 s | 4 s | ₦100 / ₦200 |
| 🏍️ Okada | 2 s | 3 s | ₦400 / ₦500 |
| 🚕 Taxi | 3 s | 3 s | ₦800 / ₦900 |

🏍️ Okada is the quickest way across. If a top prize is still up for grabs, the fare is small next to it. Walk is free and only a few seconds slower, which is fine once the big prizes are gone.
Tips for finding it first
- Open the hunt right after a drop. The countdown in the hunt tells you when the next one lands.
- Guess, go, check. A wrong guess costs a few seconds and a small fare.
- Don't start a shift just before a drop. You can't travel until it ends.
- Finish or stop what you're doing first. A running activity has to end before you can set off.
- Once you arrive, tap the gem card. The camera pans straight to the gem.
- The midnight gem has one more place to check than the others, so think about night spots too.
- Combine the trip with a wish at the same place. The wishes guide lists where each one is done.
Questions
How often is there a new gem?
Every 4 hours, Lagos time: 12 AM, 4 AM, 8 AM, 12 PM, 4 PM, 8 PM. That makes 6 gems a day.
Can I find the same gem twice?
No. Each player can claim each gem once. The next gem is fair game again.
Do I need to be first to win anything?
No. The first 10 finders share the big prizes, and everyone after that still gets ₦2,500.
Is everyone looking for the same gem?
Yes. Every player sees the same riddle, and the gem is in the same place for everyone until the next one drops.
I’m at the right place but I can’t see the gem.
Make sure you have arrived, not still on the way. Then tap the gem card to have the camera pan to it, or drag the view around the room.
Can I hunt while I’m at work?
No. You can’t travel during a shift. A gem lasts four hours, so finish the shift and go.
What does “Gem hunting is on hold right now” mean?
The hunt has been paused for a while, usually for maintenance. Claims are refused until it is switched back on, so try again later.
